Teaching-Family Homes of Upper Michigan was established in 1981 to serve Upper Peninsula children who have been abused and neglected. In addition to residential group homes, the agency services include Foster Care, Family Preservation, Educational/School, Teen Parenting, and training to parents, schools, and Foster Parents. The mission of Teaching-Family Homes is to provide ethical, cost-effective care to children, families, and individuals in need of services. Our goal as an agency is to facilitate self-sufficiency, skill development, and interpersonal relationships through building upon and reinforcing individual strengths and attributes. Teaching Family Homes is an affiliate of Father Flannigan’s Boys Town and utilizes the research-based Teaching Family Model in their programs. Group homes, foster care and counseling services are nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
